Fitzroy High School 3

This stage at Fitzroy High School involved a range of materials. All matierials had to be robust and all materials needed to compliment eachother.

Mass concrete and timber formed the amphitheatre. The decking timber was an Australian hardwood. Blackbutt.

Asphalt and granitic sand were chosen for the main materials on the ground because of their low maintenance nature. All asphalt areas drain to purpose built raingardens which allow the runoff water to be filtered and returned to the groundwater table in a clean and pure state.

A range of coloured concrete as exposed aggregate radiate off the new year 12 building to compliment the architecture and link the landscape with the built form.

Planting is a mixture of hardy exotics and native species.
